A Brief History . . .

Reach Housing was formed in March 2002 and aimed to provide quality support to disabled and disadvantaged individuals, who were often due to their level of disability prevented from accessing a tenancy in their own right.

Reach are strongly committed to the rights of individuals to live a lifestyle that they themselves have identified and recognised that a home should be as individual as the person who lives within it.

We therefore commenced upon the development of support services to meet the needs of a range of individuals who due to their learning disability, communication difficulty, autism or complex behavioural needs were unable to be supported in existing housing support environments or within long term residential care.

Our first supported housing project was established in January 2003 and due to its success has enabled us to create a range of individual housing options tailor made to meet the needs of those individuals who live within them.

Reach has separated its support services from housing. All properties are leased to and managed by ‘Your Life Charity’. Reach focuses on support only but works in partnership with ‘Your Life’.

Reach will refer you to the charity should you also require housing services. Reach has offices based in Nottinghamshire and ideally located to offer support services throughout the East Midlands.

Support services – A home as individual as you are:

Whatever the client needs, we endeavour, at Reach to provide a home that is as individual as the person that resides within it. Reach will attempt to purchase or secure property via other sources to meet specific need as opposed to offering existing housing as the only option.

We begin by working out a personalised, person centred, lifestyle plan of support that is devised by the client, their family, our support team and other professionals involved with the client.

Reach then provides a support package that is tailor made to meet the individual need. The package of support remains flexible and will be reviewed and adapted as many times as is needed in order to meet the changing needs of the client.

Reach are committed to working in partnership with all clients and do not make changes to their support or the services that are provided without first consulting with the clients.

The Reach Housing Team

Reach currently employ 50 support workers whose role it is to provide tenancy related support services, practical assistance,support, encouragement, advice and non professional counselling services to tenants who live within their own property.
